Odd Fauna

From an etymological point of view, abstraction expresses an extraction. Animals are stripped of their reality and transformed into origami animals, i.e. abstract animals. The origamis in the ‘Odd Fauna’ series were treated with a light-sensitive cyanotype solution and then exposed to light. Finally, the animals are dissolved during the developing process, and their three-dimensionality is abstracted from their form. The areas that refer to the animals now become visible, and thus the attempt to subordinate reality to theories.
